The shipyard Astilleros de Murueta and Alsaker Fjordbruk at Onarheim in Norway chose Norwegian Electric Systems and Norwegian Control System as the suppliers of the propulsion system and automation system, respectively. The live fish carrier is scheduled for delivery in May 2020.

Robust and reliable system

The propulsion system will be delivered by Norwegian Electric Systems (NES). It includes electrical engines for propulsion and tunnel thrusters, generators, main switchboards, alarm panel, transformers, software and an option for a battery pack. The delivery also includes a B.O.S.S® (Black Out Safety System) and RAS (Remote Assistance System), which ensures safe operation of electrical installations in challenging conditions. This is a robust and reliable system that will ensure optimum propulsion of the live fish carrier.

‘Alsaker is a new customer and will be a major player as regards the equipment they have chosen us to deliver. It’s very exciting and really motivating to work with new customers, and we are looking forward to good cooperation in the time ahead,' says Sales Support Engineer Henry Myhre.

 New segment

Norwegian Control Systems (NCS) will deliver an IAS/PMS (integrated automation system / power management system). Sales & Bid Manager Svein Ove Farstad says that automation systems are one of their most popular products, and they have as many as 18 orders on their books. ‘Our activities in Spain are increasing, and this is a market we want to be active in. Winning this contract is an important step for us. The shipyard Astilleros de Murueta in Spain and Alsaker Fjordbruk are new customers. This is a very exciting project and a new segment for us,’ says Farstad.

‘NES and NCS aim to adapt and deliver innovative, reliable, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, while also providing the best possible service for our customers. So far, Alsaker Fjordbruk has proven to be a demanding and interesting customer that sets stringent requirements for stability. This keeps us on our toes and helps us to develop as a systems integrator. We set great store by our cooperation with the company,’ says head of the business area and CEO Tor Leif Mongstad.
